Manager, Immigration Law Group

The Manager, Immigration Law Group, oversees the daily operations of the Immigration Law Group to ensure efficient and effective management of all client files.  In addition to completing immigration files, this role is responsible for managing the professional and support resources in the Immigration Law Group to achieve a high standard of quality and customer service.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Coordinate daily operations of the Immigration Law Group
  • Coordinate all incoming client matters and inquiries and delegate as applicable to ensure a timely response
  • Maintain and review status report on all client files with Head of the Group
  • Ensure clients’ calls are returned in a timely manner
  • Liaise with clients on non-legal issues and ensure clients are up to date on their file
  • Manage and support all team members to ensure adherence to all firm and group policies and procedures
  • Stay/keep current on all new developments in immigration, citizenship and refugee law, policy and processing
  • Research areas of law, policy and international developments which are relevant to this practice and the role
  • Liaise with appropriate firm departments to ensure all administrative and financial matters are attended to
  • Manage monthly billing process
  • Review and manage the Group’s account receivables
  • Manage the Group’s paper and electronic file management process according to firm standards
  • Review department processes and seek opportunities for process improvements
  • Research and develop knowledge on marketing opportunities and business development initiatives
  • Complete all Economic/Corporate immigration files
  • Attend client meetings with group lawyers
  • Assist with other projects and support other departments as required

Qualifications: 

  • Completed College or University education
  • Minimum five years of immigration law experience
  • Strong working knowledge of PC desktop tools such as word processing, spreadsheets and e-mail
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong administrative and organization skills
  • Strong interpersonal skills and professional presentation
  • Strong customer relations experience
  • Experience preparing and editing correspondence
