New ICC Rules of Arbitration in Force

Barry Leon, Partner in the firm’s International Arbitration Group and Chair of the ICC Canada’s International Arbitration Committee comments on the new ICC rules of arbitration which entered into force January 1, 2012.
 
Leon says, “The new ICC Arbitration Rules are a welcome update reflecting the evolution of arbitration law and practice since the ICC Rules were last revised in 1998. With a focus on speed and cost-efficiency, the new Rules help address the growing complexity of international business disputes between Canadian and foreign companies as well as disputes involving states.
