Research Director

We are looking to add to the strength of our team by bringing in a Research Director with significant and broad experience in conducting legal research on a wide range of legal topics and areas of law. The ideal candidate will be self-motivated with strong verbal and written communication skills.
Key Responsibities
- Conduct in-depth legal research on a wide range of legal topics and areas of law
- Collect and review legal documents and case law to provide analysis and summaries
- Prepare legal briefs, reports, memoranda, and other documents as required
- Organize and present research findings clearly and concisely
- Collaborate effectively with litigation lawyers, staff, and articling students to support their legal research needs
- Stay updated on changes in laws, regulations, and legal precedents that may impact ongoing cases or projects
- Provide recommendations and sound legal advice based on research findings
- Assist in drafting legal pleadings, motions, and other legal documents
- Assist in preparing for trials, hearings, and other legal proceedings
- Support other functions in the department as required
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree (LLB) or Juris Doctor degree (JD) in law
- Minimum of five years’ experience in legal research
- Strong knowledge and understanding of court rules and procedures
- Advanced technical skills in a variety of software including MS Office 365
- Proficiency in using legal research tools and databases
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Professional presentation and strong ability to exercise discretion and confidentiality
- Bilingualism is considered an asset
