STUDENTS TO EXPERIENCE MOCK MOTION FOR TAKE OUR KIDS TO WORK DAY

November 2, 2010

OTTAWA – The County of Carleton Law Association, in partnership with Perley-Robertson, Hill & McDougall LLP/s.r.l. and Gowlings LLP, will present a mock court proceeding during the Learning Partnership’s 9th annual Take Our Kids To Work Day on November 3.

Starting at 10 a.m. at the Ottawa Courthouse, students will have the opportunity to watch two of Ottawa’s leading commercial litigators, Andrew Lenz (Partner, Perley-Robertson, Hill & McDougall) and Lynne Watt (Partner, Gowlings LLP), argue a mock motion in front of one of the local Justices of the Superior Court. The goal is to demonstrate how our courts work and get students excited about a career in law. Mr. Lenz and Ms. Watt will also make a brief presentation to the students prior to the motion about the facts of the case and how a civil action is tried. Questions will be gladly answered by Mr. Lenz, Ms. Watt and the Justice of the Superior Court after the hearing. All employees of local law firms, other CCLA members and courthouse staff are welcome to attend.

The media including reporters, photographers and news crews are welcome to attend.
