Firm Lawyers Join in Honouring Leading Arbitrator with Prestigious Award

On Thursday, October 24, 2013, The Advocates’ Society honoured Yves Fortier, P.C., C.C., O.Q., Q.C. with The Roger Fisher Lifetime Achievement Award in ADR. Partner and Head of firm’s International Arbitration Group, Barry Leon, was pleased to have taken part in the evening by acting as the Emcee and as Chair of the Dinner Committee. Other firm attendees included Chairman Emeritus & Founding Partner, Thomas McDougall, Q.C., Co-Chair Partner, R. Aaron Rubinoff, Special Counsel, Andrew McDougall and International Arbitration Group Associate, John Siwiec. 

The gala evening in Toronto was attended by over 200 people and included some of the leading names in international arbitration in Canada and from around the world as well as people from business, academia, international organizations and government.

Mr. Fortier is one of the leading and most respected arbitrators in the world. He has been President of the London Court of International Arbitration, the Canadian Bar Association, and served as Canada’s Ambassador and Permanent Representative to the United Nations (serving in 1989 as President of the Security Council).
