Perley-Roberston, Hill & McDougall Hosts YCAP and OIAA Events

OTTAWA – Perley-Roberston, Hill & McDougall LLP/s.r.l. helped celebrate the Ottawa International Arbitration Association’s (OIAA) first anniversary by hosting a cocktail reception at their Ottawa offices. The reception followed the Young Canadian Arbitration Practitioners (YCAP) Spring Symposium which was attended by 36 people and included the following national and international guest speakers: Mark A. Luz, Department of Foreign Affairs and International Trade (Ottawa), William C. Dovey, Duff & Phelps (Toronto), Laura Hardin, FTI Consulting (Houston, TX), Vimal Kotecha, RSM Richter (Toronto), Mandy Moore, Borden Ladner Gervais LLP (Ottawa), L. Yves Fortier, Norton Rose OR LLP (Montreal) and Andrew McDougall, Perley-Robertson, Hill & McDougall LLP/s.r.l. (Ottawa).

YCAP was launched in 2004 and promotes the interest and understanding of international arbitration, particularly in Canada, among young lawyers as well as providing networking and professional development opportunities.

The OIAA was co-founded last summer by Andrew McDougall, Partner & Head of the International Arbitration Group at Perley-Robertson, Hill & McDougall, and Renée Thériault, Of Counsel with Norton Rose OR LLP. The OIAA provides information-sharing and networking opportunities for arbitration specialists in Ottawa. The cocktail reception was attended by more than 60 people; all of whom share a keen interest in international arbitration.
